Look up at the sky and count the stars, if you can. Genesis 15:5
Growing up a city kid in St. Louis, I still vividly remember those occasional weekends spent in rural Missouri. I recall my father telling me to go outside and count the stars, and to this day I don’t know if he was just trying to keep me busy or teach me a priceless lesson. Whatever the motive, the lesson stuck. I still cannot look at a bright, starry sky and not think of the endless and majestic power of creation and, more importantly, the Creator. I still cannot count the stars, and neither can I fathom such a work of beauty and immensity without attributing it to the ultimate source of life and light. Always, stars lead me to the wonders of God.
Creator God, thank you for the brilliant beacons that point me to you.
