As summer is upon us, and America nears its 250th birthday, we wanted to start a series of posts giving thanks to our Father Almighty for the magnificent country we live in. We are overwhelmingly blessed as a nation with a home of bountiful prosperity, a land of breathtaking beauty, and a wise Constitution that safeguards precious—and historically rare—political freedom. Every week until July 4, we’d like to highlight something about our country that is worth praising, glorifying and thanking God for.
Almighty God, surely any earthly nation would be happy and blessed to honor you as Lord. Yet, I know that you have also called me to be part of a different kind of nation. It is an eternal holy nation formed of all those who trust in Jesus for salvation. We who follow Jesus are the Church, the Body of Christ, your own people, created anew by faith to proclaim your excellence. I pray that many more people in these United States, and in nations around the world, will hear and believe the Good News of salvation so that they, too, will be happy and blessed to worship Jesus as Lord. Amen.
