As summer is upon us, and America nears its 250th birthday, we wanted to start a series of posts giving thanks to our Almighty Father for the magnificent country we live in. We are overwhelmingly blessed as a nation with a home of bountiful prosperity, a land of breathtaking beauty, and a wise Constitution that safeguards precious—and historically rare—political freedom. Every week until July 4, we’d like to highlight something about our country that is worth praising, glorifying and thanking God for. This week, we direct you to those who built and watch our country.
Lord, when the wall of Jerusalem was rebuilt after the exile, the builders were armed as they worked. They built the wall and, at the same time, kept watch for enemies who wanted to stop their work. I am thankful, Lord God, for the people who worked through the years to build up this nation. I am thankful for the members of the armed forces and the first responders who kept watch in past years and for those who still guard our country today. I pray that all of us will continue to be watchful and protect the blessing of freedom that you have granted to us. Amen.
