Augustinians of the Assumption, our partners, celebrate Pope Leo XIV

In a recent post titled “Blessings of an Augustinian Pope: A Journey of Humility and a Pastoral Heart”, Brother Hugo Morales Ballesteros writes:

As our Assumptionist community celebrates the pontificate of Pope Leo XIV, an Augustinian Pope, we are filled with joy and gratitude. The Pope’s humble introduction of himself as “a son of Saint Augustine, an Augustinian” resonates deeply with our own Augustinian roots.

Pope Leo XIV’s acknowledgment of his Augustinian heritage reminds us of the profound impact of Saint Augustine’s teachings on the Church. Saint Augustine’s sermons, marked by honesty, passion, and love for God, continue to guide us today. His emphasis on walking with the people, as a bishop and a servant of God, inspires us to follow in his footsteps.

As we journey with our new Pope, we are blessed with a renewed sense of purpose and direction. We are reminded that our Assumptionist charism, rooted in the teachings of Saint Augustine, is a gift to the Church and the world. May Pope Leo XIV’s pontificate inspire us to deepen our commitment to our Augustinian values of community, hospitality, and service.
