This is my beloved Son. My favor rests on him. Matthew 3:17
We who are the followers of Jesus must always be open to the possibility that this “voice from heaven” may want to include us. Look up into the skies and hear the truth: “You are my beloved; my favor rests on you.”
At our Baptism we were anointed with the Holy Spirit and with power. As refreshing as these waters of Baptism were we know enough about the Paschal Mystery to be aware that these waters have also been waters of bitterness.
To be a beloved one favored by God does not mean all sweetness and light. To go down into the waters with Christ is to enter into a life-giving death.
Pray for the courage to accept all the faces of your Baptism.
