Welcome to an occasional series focusing on the blogs and writing works of our Living Faith writers…

Come into the Word is not just the name of Sarah Christmyer’s blog, in my mind it describes her way of life. I first came across Sarah’s thoughtful and reliable writing about the Bible through another publisher’s Bible study. Soon after that I heard her speak most eloquently at a conference. We were both doing a lot of writing and teaching during the year that we finally met in person. That was at the 2015 World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia. By then we were paired up as part of an all-women’s writing team, through our mutual connections through WINE: Women in the New Evangelization. The book we co-authored with others was Walk in Her Sandals: Experiencing Christ’s Passion through the Eyes of Women.
Sarah’s passion for the Bible—and for the stories of women in it—are captured in this award-winning book: Becoming Women of the Word.
I knew for a while that I wanted to invite Sarah into the writing fold here at Living Faith. But for a long time she was busy working as the general editor on a most wonderful women’s Bible, Living the Word, Catholic Women’s Bible. I was a happy contributor for that project and I really recommend the accompanying podcast series where Sarah interviews many women who supplied the Bible’s supportive study aids — a grand cadre of Catholic teachers, theologians, evangelists, catechists, storytellers and more.
Come into the Word is where Sarah shares the fruits of her personal reflection on the Word of God, whether reading along with the lectionary readings for that week or exploring a particular book of the Bible. (Exactly why she is a great boon to Living Faith!) Come into the Word brings readers “the more” about the Bible: how to read and study it, how to do lectio divina and keep a journal, and why the Bible is such a great place to meet Jesus and hear him speaking to your heart.
I hope you enjoy exploring Come Into the Word.
