On 8/25, Patrick reminds us that our God knows what it’s like to be one of us, and we should draw upon that through our daily struggles and troubles. He writes:
…speaking for myself…I know we pilgrims pass through our dark night of the soul. The key is to pass through and not get stuck. Jesus illustrated for us what is required by His words and example. He suffered rejection, duplicitous judgement, even treachery from one of His apostles and a lot more besides. He experienced what we experience on life’s journey. He also had the joy of completing His mission. His examples of forgiveness, trust in His and our Heavenly Father, etc. He gave us his Holy Spirt and His word. He never said the journey would be easy, “take up your cross” but he demonstrated it would be worth it.
Let’s also not forget Paul’s words in the fourth chapter of his second letter to Timothy: “I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith” (v. 7).
Amen.
