From the Living Faith Foundation: Inspiration from St. Thérèse of Lisieux

These last few weeks have been particularly busy. Personal, business, volunteer efforts. I felt I was doing fairly well with balancing all of it, and then I realized I hadn’t written the text for this newsletter.

We typically try to have the newsletter in your inboxes on the first of the month. “That’s okay,” I thought to myself.“ This October it may just have to be a day or too ‘late.’”

Then I remembered Oct. 1 is the feast of St. Thérèse of Lisieux. How could I pass this up, knowing she is one of only four women recognized as doctors of the Church and a saint who holds deep meaning for me?

So I decided to trust the Holy Spirit and the Internet to let this amazing woman speak through me. Below are some quotes from her writing which I found with a quick search.

I hope her words inspire and challenge you too. And may you experience receiving a rose from her today too!

May today there be peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others. May you use the gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content with yourself just the way you are. Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of us.

The value of life does not depend on the place we occupy. It depends upon the way we occupy that place.

For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy.

+++

I know now that true charity consists in bearing all our neighbors’ defects—not being surprised at their weakness, but edified at their smallest virtues.

+++

If I did not simply live from one moment to another, it would be impossible for me to be patient, but I only look at the present, I forget the past, and I take good care not to forestall the future.

+++

When I die, I will send down a shower of roses from the heavens, I will spend my heaven by doing good on earth.
