On the 6/4 devotion, Joe G wisely reminds us it’s best to live authentically in Christ’s truth and resist—tempting though it may be—being a “people pleaser”:
It’s hard when you love being loved, but it can steer you away from your own values and ethics just so you are liked or “fit in.” I’ve been better with not caring about pleasing everyone which I guess is in large part attributed to getting older (our filters get flexible as we age!). But if we are people of faith, we need to hold fast to that and not waiver in our beliefs or vocal points. If people don’t like our values that is their issue, we just need to pray for them—avoid anger and fights. I am more comfortable than ever to proclaim my faith but won’t get into arguments on social media about differences in my values or faith beliefs—that is where you can easily go off the rails. Stay steadfast and strong, be grateful and trusting in the Lord Jesus and Blessed Trinity and all will be well—with the Lord at our side, all things are possible
