On the reflection from 2/3, Scott write movingly about our capacity to help and heal others, no matter our gifts and callings, no matter how small or mundane:
Today the healing happens whenever I reach out to someone. Sometimes it comes when people reach out to me. I often reach out to a counselor who supports me in my personal journey of healing. Pastors, deacons/deaconesses, trusted friends even strangers who reach out to those who are less fortunate than I am. I think of doctors, the first responders, nurses, social workers, PT/OT therapists. Many people help people even non-professional people provide care when a woman is giving birth, when people have to have amputations, joint replacements. People reach out to those who even have struggled with a loved one dying and living in the glorious heavenly realm where joy has no end and love celebrated. Maybe person finds themselves lost; lonely and afraid a stranger reaches out to help that person. People have reached out to me, and I have reached out to them either by phone call, sending a card, or even just showing up to the present with them. Reaching out to Jesus touches me deep within the soul to give me strength to breath and walk one step at a time. With love and gratitude for Vivian’s devotional this morning and to all who read this comment. God bless you, God’s light shine upon you to give you peace and love always.
