Hopeful in Translation

On the devotion for Pentecost Sunday, 6/8, Lou M provides another a short and simple prayer to the Holy Spirit to enter our lives and guide us:

“Holy Spirit, translate [for] me”. Mine is “Holy Spirit, show me the way.” It’s a big help when I have no idea what to do or say next.

As a first grade girl at Holy Spirit School, Los Angeles, in Sr. Jane Francis’ first grade class, in the mid-fifties; making my first Holy Communion was not only a spiritual experience; it was a strongly physical experience.
When receiving the Host for the first time, a warm radiating and tingling feeling travelled throughout my entire body and I felt as if Jesus was truly at home within me.
Waves of pure love, light and warmth radiated through through every fiber of my being, as I welcomed Jesus’ presence.
I felt so blissfully, safe and confident in Jesus entry into my heart and soul. I was surprised and very grateful for this clearly real encounter with Jesus.
I also thought that this extraordinary feeling of the actual presence of Christ entering my body at First Communion was experienced by all First Communicants. And maybe, like me, it was…and every First Communicant never wanted to part with this experience of pure Light, Joy and Love.
