You’ve heard the buzz about our bees, right? The little characters in our Bee-Attitudes cartoon on the back of every Living Faith Kids? (Here’s a sample). We sat down with one of the cartoon’s stars, Bee #2, with an exclusive interview to get a sense of what makes her such a diligent spreader of both pollen and the Gospel.
About You:
Living Faith Kids: Describe your vocation in life.
Bee #2: I am a bee. But more importantly, I am a bee-liever.
LFK: Offer a new general bio here:
Bee #2: After a brief pupal state, I really started to spread my wings. Now I make honey and talk punny.
LFK: Do you reach out to readers online via a website or social media? List those links here.
Bee #2: I only share what’s buzz-worthy.
LFK: Share a little about your ministry or daily work…. (A day in the life looks like…)
Bee #2: My days kind of drone on and on, honestly. Then every three months or so, happy to appear on the Bee-Attitudes panel.
LFK: How long have you been writing, or when did you start?
Bee #2: Busy as a writer since my teens, but busy as a bee for 20 years!
LFK: What is the most difficult part of your writing process?
Bee #2: It can be a little drawn out.
LFK: How many books have you written, and which is your favorite? If you haven’t written a book, name a favorite that you’ve enjoyed.
Bee #2: Charlotte’s Web. It really pulled me in.
LFK: Where do you live today, and is that different from where you grew up?
Bee #2: I grew up in a hexagonal compartment. Now I appear in a square. So, just a little different.
LFK: Three words your best friend would use to describe you.
Bee #2: Yellow. Striped. Worker. (That’s how we all describe each other.)
LFK: One additional thing you would want a Living Faith reader to know about you that we haven’t covered above. (A hobby, something silly or fun, an accomplishment, or an interesting fact?)
Bee #2: People wonder if I’m the bee that makes jokes or the one who shares Bible verses. I guess you’ll nectar know. (Sorry.)
About Faith:
LFK: When did you first know that God loved you?
Bee #2: I am blessed to say that I have always known God’s love for me!
LFK: Describe a prayer practice that is meaningful to you.
Bee #2: I like to read Bee-Attitudes and, of course, the actual Beatitudes in Matthew 5:1-12!
LFK: What’s something you’ve learned from the Bible or from the Mass or the Sacraments that has always stayed with you?
Bee #2: I’ve learned to trust in God’s promises!
How sweet to my tongue is your promise, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Psalm 119:103.
About the Bible:
LFK: Do you have a favorite Bible verse?
Bee #2: I think often about Jesus’ words to us in Luke 12:22-34. He says that God provides for the birds of the air and the flowers of the field. In other words, “Don’t worry! Bee happy!”
LFK: If you could spend a day with a person (besides Jesus) mentioned in the Bible, whom would you choose?
Bee #2: John the Baptist. His diet is wild!
About Living Faith:
LFK: How long have you been writing for Living Faith Kids?
Bee #2: We’ve appeared on the back cover of Living Faith Kids for nearly two decades!
LFK: What is one thing you love about Living Faith Kids?
Bee #2: I love the colorful, faith-filled pictures and activities in Living Faith Kids.
