Living Faith writer Melanie Rigney offers these memories of the late Pope Francis:
I remember seeing him… not close enough to touch him, but close enough to see his face… at the canonization of Junipero Serra in September 2015 in Washington, DC. My northern Virginia parish had held a drawing for the limited number of tickets it received, and to my surprise, I was a winner! There was so much love among the thousands assembled. To me, that is who Francis was… someone who radiated love and humility, from his simple clothing to his embrace of those others preferred to consider irredeemable… It’s about emulating Jesus. Francis provided a tangible example.
