Raised From the Darkness

But God raised him up… Acts 2:24

Alleluia! All this week we celebrate the resurrection: God raising up Jesus Christ who died for our sins and promised us eternal life. Alleluia!

God raises us up every day, not only as we wake from a night’s sleep, but also as we respond to the difficulties of the day. How do I need to be raised up right now? Is it from depression? From the lack of love? From the inability to forgive? From the oppressive power of pain? What else might drag me down?

“Do not be afraid,” Christ said to the Marys at his empty tomb. God is waiting to give us strength and abiding joy, as Psalm 16 promises. Alleluia!

Powerful, loving God, thank you for the glory of the resurrection of your Son. Give me the grace to recognize the help you offer me today. Alleluia!
