Stocked Up

Our Daily Bread

If I send them away hungry to their homes, they will collapse on the way… Mark 8:3

When my kids came home from college on the weekend or over a holiday break, I would always take them grocery shopping before they went back to school. I felt better if they were “all stocked up.” In between visits, I often sent care packages with homemade cookies, granola bars, nuts and pumpkin or banana bread (family favorites). I knew my kids could buy plenty of food on campus, but, as a mom, I had a need to know they were getting something relatively healthy and something I had made especially for them.

It was more than just food; it was love and care. My kids were journeying away from me, but I wanted them to know there was a place from which they came—a place of love and nourishment. Jesus, the Bread of Life, is that place, and he will never send us away hungry.

Lord, Jesus, please keep me always stocked up with your love and your grace. You are enough for me.
