The Answer is Christ

For the Sixth Sunday of Easter…

Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you
for a reason for your hope… 1 Peter 3:15

“Why are you so happy?” I hear people ask this when they don’t know what to make of my joy and optimism. “Why are you so different?” What are my reasons for behaving as I do? What is the source of my hope and joy?

The answer is Christ. I love God. God loves me. I feel this and know it deeply, and it frames my identity and the way I take in life. This doesn’t mean that I haven’t dealt with intense hardships and suffering. Yet, even when life is heavy and full of struggle, my main habit is to hope and notice beauty. When it comes to God’s goodness, I will not tire in my sense of wonder, and I know this provides my inspiration and motivation. God’s love gives me direction.

Because you love God, do people notice that you’re different?

What is your inspiration and motivation for having hope?
