Welcome to an occasional series focusing on the blogs and writing works of our Living Faith writers…

I first “met” the Deacon through the burgeoning Catholic blogosphere back in the Web 2.0 days of 2007-2008, sometime after The Deacon’s Bench was launched. He’s a longtime journalist, retiring with an impressive New York-based television news resume that includes three Emmys, two Peabody Awards and four awards from the Writer’s Guild of America. AND he’s a Catholic deacon who was ordained in the Diocese of Brooklyn, and given his prolific spiritual writing and essays, he’s been honored multiple times with awards by the Catholic Media Association.
I met Deacon Greg while we were both columnists at Patheos, more than a dozen years ago, and once out on Long Island, we both shared a panel on stage talking about writing and evangelization and digital media at Catholic conference for adults and teens. Since those years, Deacon kept right on blogging and preaching and writing books, (including a new one on Pope Leo XVI! )….I went on to write more articles and books, eventually meandering to do magazine work at Bayard in 2016… including my work here at Living Faith.
But I’m so glad that Deacon Greg answered my email when I invited him to come along and join our merry band of Living Faith writers. I’ve enjoyed his writing for years, and his sharing of Catholic news and interesting cultural takes.
I hope you enjoy exploring The Deacon’s Bench.
