Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire,
which parted and came to rest on each one of them.
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit…
Acts 2:3-4
Happy Pentecost! What a great weekend to pray for the Church!
This weekend, four cross-country pilgrimages are stepping off from different cities in the North, the South, the East and the West to bring Jesus in Eucharistic procession across the United States. It’s a bold plan, a Spirit-led plan, that will reach the Eucharistic Congress meeting in Indianapolis on July 19. I can’t wait to see that moment when these four groups of walking pilgrims enter together as one at the Lucas Oil stadium with Jesus in the monstrance held aloft. I’ll be traveling to Indianapolis in July to take part in the Eucharistic Congress, and I hope you, or some people you know, may be doing the same.
The Eucharistic Pilgrimage processions may be coming to cities and town your diocese—so check out their paths and destination points at EucharisticPilgrimage.org and considering praying along or walking along with the groups! Now is the time to make your plan!
These are holy moments for our nation and many, many people are on their knees daily for begging God for spiritual renewal in the hearts and minds of our brothers and sisters, and our neighbors and friends. But whether we are blessed to participate in the coming events in Indianapolis or not, we are all called by the Spirit to be witnesses to Christ. Wherever we are, there Christ is. Let’s spread his holy fire to others!
Lord Jesus, send your Holy Spirit to set our hearts aflame, to boldly go where you will lead us.
