See what love the Father has bestowed on us that we may be called the children of God. 1 John 3:1
Several years ago I attended a large family reunion. Some of the people I hadn’t seen in years. Others (especially the many children) I had never met before. To facilitate mingling, everyone wore a tag with their name on it and also the branch of the family they were from—for example, son of John and Mildred or granddaughter of Marty and Helen. The tags reminded us of our relationship with each other. Maybe all human beings should wear a name tag that says, “Child of God.” After all, it is the essence of our identity. The tag would remind us not only our intrinsic relationship to God, but also with one another. It would proclaim that we are all in the same family—despite differences of nationality, language, color, gender, culture or religion. Perhaps this reminder would also facilitate our mingling. Jesus of the Holy Name, increase my ability to mingle in love with all my brothers and sisters.
