And behold, the star that they had seen at its rising preceded them, until it came and stopped over the place where the child was. Matthew 2:9
Today we celebrate God’s manifestation to the Gentiles. But we do more than that. We also celebrate all those ways God continues to break into our lives today in both ordinary and surprising ways: in Scripture and the sacraments, in the wonders of creation, in our personal history, in people we encounter every day, in world events and in the marvels of technology, art, literature and music. But this feast does even more: It calls us to be an epiphany of God in our world. How do we do that? By following the example of the person this little child would become, a person of selfless love who makes goodness, peace and justice more visible in our world.
Jesus, Epiphany of the invisible God, shine through me today.
