For the Third Sunday of Easter…
God raised this Jesus; of this we are all witnesses…
Acts 2:32
The Acts of the Apostles—nicknamed the “Gospel of the Holy Spirit”—captures the missionary movements and deeds of the first Apostles. This Sunday we continue to read and learn of the early preaching of St. Peter. Liturgically, we are joyfully between the feasts of Easter and Pentecost, and this proclamation from Peter offers a glimpse of the Holy Spirit’s fire in Peter’s voice following Pentecost.
To this day the Church remains on this same mission inspired by the first followers of Jesus. We, the baptized, are “witnesses” to Christ, deputized to share this message, inspired by the lives St. Peter and the other apostles.
Where will we help to spread the gospel?
Are we being attentive to the Holy Spirit?
Lord, raise to new life our desire to share your Good News within our spheres of influence, wherever they may be.
