For the Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time…
Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.
Matthew 10:40
Take a look in the mirror. What do you see? Do you look tired? Sad? Annoyed? Or do you look at peace? Do your eyes look welcoming? Do you have, at least, a slight smile?
When Jesus sent the Apostles out two by two, he reminded them that God comes first, even before their own families and lives. But he also reminded them that they were going forth in essence as his agents to the world. And we do the same, every day, with everyone we encounter.
As the saying goes, you may be the only Jesus some people will see today. Pause before you talk with your family today, or take that work or ministry meeting, or get into traffic. Pray for the gift of presenting yourself in a way pleasing to Christ and those you will encounter in his name.
Jesus, may I reflect your love and humility in all my interactions today so that others may receive you and the one who sent you.
